How we Help you Heal: Our Approach to Functional Care, Natural Remedies, and Homeopathy
If you’re reading this, you’re likely looking for answers — maybe after years of feeling unheard or unwell. The team at Hey Hey MAE is here to help you understand your options, feel supported, and discover a system of care that truly fits you.
Between biohacking and doctor’s visits that seek to give you a pill pack - it’s hard to know what next choice is the right choice for your body. Whether you should take this or that, try that cleanse, is this thing that person is selling even safe? Stack all of that on the lack of knowledge we were taught about our bodies growing up and the vast amount of knowledge available on the internet - and you’re stuck in confusion before you get started. Yet, there’s that little voice inside that says your health isn’t being taken of well by your providers. I was you.
This overview of our care will help demystify the process we walk our clients through to move from sick and shut down to thriving and better than before they felt bad.
What is the MTHFR (gene)?
MTHFR is a hot topic, and for good reason -
we should know it’s a thing, but it may not be quite the main, root cause of all the things it is sometimes is cracked up to be.
MTHFR is the gene that codes for an enzyme of the same name - MTHFR - that activates all forms of folate.

Red Light and Your Health
Biohacking is all the rage and as a girl who is pretty minimalist and believes in “use it up, wear it out, make do or go without”, there are a few therapies I find myself recommending and reaching for over and over again. I'm currently bathing in red light while writing to you: photo-modulation is a fave!
What makes an immune system ignore an infection?
All this talk of chronic infections and it’s quite evident that some people don’t struggle with them (your husband and his regular Taco Bell habit…) while you’re bent over with body pain multiple times a week. But why? How do the cards get tossed out so irregularly? Triggering Events!
How does an immune system work?
Your immune system isn’t just at work when a pathogen takes root - it’s at work every moment of everyday of your life as fungi, bacteria and virus’ try to gain access to a warm and energetic host that can provide a warm home, free food, energy to run on and an endlessly life of loafing on your body’s dime. It’s the immune system that keeps these pathogens from making your body their permanent address.
Environmental Factors Checklist
“My husband uses Axe body spray, eats Taco Bell twice a day and works in a chemical factory - yet I’m the one struggling with my health - why?”
Environment! Whether it’s your internal environment or the external: all of our bodies have a tolerance point - after which they will begin to show the wear and tear of toxin load. And display symptoms!
Client ‘C’ - Childhood Eczema Case Study
Eczema is one of the most common conditions we support here at Hey Hey Mae. Parent's call us in distress, rightfully so, because their children are suffering from itchy and painful eczema. That is where we started with Client “C”.
Chronic Infections: What ARE they?
Are you chronically symptomatic? ….This week? Us, too…sorta. Last week we did have a lingering fever-boy at home, which meant I had a lingering office helper and this e-news is a bit tardy! Let’s build on our conversation about why toxins bother you and not your less-health-striving partner.
10 days of Christmas (...stress management, anyway)
Can we avoid it entirely? Not so much.
Can we find ways to reduce it as much as we can? Absolutely.
HTMA Hair Testing is Here!
HTMA hair testing is here! Abby and I have been diving deep to learn the ins and outs of this powerful, non-invasive test that is perfect for children and adults!
Case Study for “A”
Bio-individual nutrition is for everyone. Not just those with chronic illness or ongoing digestive woes. There is much we weren’t taught growing up, when it comes to the care and the keeping of our bodies. Knowing the best choices and habits to love your individual body WELL increases health and happiness all around.
Sun exposure questions? We’ve got you covered!
Did you know stats are saying, on average, we spend 90% of our time indoors? Wild! The sun is a life giver to our plants and grass and gardens, but sometimes it gives other things like sunburns and contributes to cancer, so what does good sun exposure look like?
Annoyed by seasonal allergies & sickness? We can help!
Runny noses, itchy eyes, groggy head, scratchy throat, hives, eczema, itchy skin and nose… How about inattention, hyperactivity, short attention span, easily agitated, loud talking, and impulsivity? What do all of these symptoms have in common? ALLERGIES!
Mold and mold illness Q & A: is mold impacting your health?

How to Jumpstart Healing Your Blood Sugar Dysregulation
Compromised blood sugar does not happen overnight, so don’t expect it to be reversed overnight either. If your blood sugar dysregulation has progressed to Phase 3, 4, or 5, I would highly recommend working with a practitioner for guided, individualized, 1:1 support.
Sneaky Sugars and Easy Swaps
I do not like to omit any one specific group because I feel that is not sustainable in the long-term (i.e. low fat, low carb, etc.). However, it is so so important that we source our food appropriately to maximize the nutrients we are taking in.
The Pathway to Type 2 Diabetes
Type 2 diabetes does not happen overnight. (Thankfully!) And (unpopular statement...) just because other family members have a Type 2 diagnosis, doesn't mean you will have one!
Protein and Bone Quality
Purchasing high-quality protein and other animal products is an important step I have my clients focus on.
