What happens when you're doing all the wellness things but still don't feel well?
Daily coffee enemas, endless supplements, restrictive diets, multiple practitioners, detox protocols, and constantly searching for the next thing that might finally make you feel better.
For Lisa, pursuing health had practically become a full-time job. And despite doing everything she thought s he was supposed to do, she was exhausted, anxious, overwhelmed, struggling with brain fog, and missing out on the joy of motherhood.
In this episode of HEY, YOU'RE GONNA BE OK, Elizabeth sits down with former client Lisa, to talk about what happens when wellness itself becomes overwhelming - and how a more focused, individualized approach helped her finally make meaningful progress.
From 22 years of chronic scalp itching and debilitating fatigue to investigating Candida, Lyme, and co-infections, Lisa shares how her health journey changed not just her physical symptoms, but her emotional resilience, confidence, and ability to be fully present with her family.
Today, she's traveling, adventuring with her children, enjoying food with less fear, and no longer organizing her entire life around managing her health.
At Hey Hey Mae, the goal isn't to become really good at doing wellness, or be on protocols and special diets for life. The goal is to get well enough to go live your life.

Elizabeth Sharrett
Welcome back to Hey, You're Gonna Be Okay. Today we are going to talk about something that we can all relate to if we're mothering. And I think there's really a whole population of moms out there who are spending an enormous amount of time and energy, money, sometimes trying to get healthy.
00:15.77
Elizabeth Sharrett
They can be doing enemas, the detoxes, the supplements, the restrictive diets, and seeing a lot of practitioners over the years and constantly wondering what else is wrong because they're not really making progress. And for me, what's heartbreaking about all that work is that they're just doing it to become healthier.
00:31.98
Elizabeth Sharrett
and it's actually kind of consuming much of the life they're trying to get healthy enough to enjoy
00:37.28
Elizabeth Sharrett
So today we're talking with one of my favorite mom clients, Lisa, who was that mom. And what I love about her story isn't just that her symptoms improved, it's that she got a lot of her life back and her joy and energy, a lot of peace, and most importantly, her ability to be fully present with her children, which is really what we're after here at HeyHey. So Lisa, before we even started working together, what was a normal day for you like? What was going on in your life? at that point.
01:03.54
lisabjoy
Sure. um I mean, I was getting up early in the morning to do such detox procedures such as coffee enema. um I felt like it was necessary to get my day started.
01:15.98
Elizabeth Sharrett
Peace.
01:16.29
lisabjoy
um You know, so therefore I'm also missing out on sleep I could have been having or exercise or other modes that would, modalities that would have been, you know, also helping me toward healthier lifestyle.
01:28.54
lisabjoy
um And then I'm homeschooling two kids and I'm doing all the mom jobs. And I would often look at other moms. And seeing them on social media and like.
01:39.74
lisabjoy
how are they doing all these things? How are they going? And I couldn't understand why I couldn't do the same things, even though I was striving for that healthy lifestyle.
01:48.74
Elizabeth Sharrett
Mm-hmm. symptom-wise, when we got started, you kind of mentioned like several detox-y things. If you weren't to do those detoxy things, or even when you were, what were you experiencing day-to-day just symptom-wise? like What was your motivation symptom-wise for doing all that stuff?
02:05.73
lisabjoy
um Honestly, I would say like just kind of general fatigue and it would tend to hit later in the day.
02:15.04
Elizabeth Sharrett
Hmm.
02:15.63
lisabjoy
And. I can't remember if there were body aches or things of that nature. It just...
02:20.53
Elizabeth Sharrett
Mm-hmm.
02:21.19
lisabjoy
In general. it felt like it helped.
02:24.94
Elizabeth Sharrett
Mhm.
02:24.81
lisabjoy
First thing in the morning, but later on, you know. Just... Didn't have the stamina.
02:30.17
Elizabeth Sharrett
Yeah. Yeah. Did you feel like you spent, like looking back now, a fair amount of time and energy just trying to feel okay? Or did those things like really kind of help prop you up to where you could?
02:42.19
Elizabeth Sharrett
You know. Feel good enough? or What are your thoughts on that?
02:44.46
lisabjoy
i mean he I guess hindsight is 20-20 because...
02:47.73
Elizabeth Sharrett
Good.
02:48.37
lisabjoy
My energy is. significantly increased now. um And that's obviously after removing some of those things from my life. And.
03:00.12
lisabjoy
doing the Lyme and co-infections treatment with you.
03:03.32
Elizabeth Sharrett
Mm.
03:03.45
lisabjoy
So. um
03:05.63
Elizabeth Sharrett
One of the things I like about your story when I was looking back is... It's 2026 now and we record towards the end of it. We started our work in early 2024. And we really like. We were done before 2025 got there. So you have been like. Through it?
03:19.85
Elizabeth Sharrett
had some life, lived life. been away. And then we've worked on some kids stuff. So we've kept in touch and gotten to see kind of where you are now. And I was looking back through notes because it's been a minute for me to remember.
03:30.94
Elizabeth Sharrett
You really had like...
03:30.49
lisabjoy
and Yeah.
03:32.34
Elizabeth Sharrett
You had a lot of things that were propping you up and there was a lot of health anxiety. So there was like high dose melatonin and you were still struggling to to sleep. Like one of the higher, I think I remember telling you like, Lisa, this melatonin should knock like a 300 pound man out and he'll be out for the night.
03:47.80
Elizabeth Sharrett
And you were like, oh.
03:48.35
lisabjoy
Yeah.
03:49.01
Elizabeth Sharrett
It doesn't work for me!
03:50.34
lisabjoy
Yeah.
03:51.35
Elizabeth Sharrett
Um...
03:51.40
lisabjoy
Yes.
03:52.41
Elizabeth Sharrett
And there was a lot of like food restriction that maybe didn't make a lot of sense than just from previous practitioner advice and like well-meaning advice along the way, but stuff that really didn't need to kind of stick. And you guys were already gluten-free and dairy-free for the most part and like really tidy about that kind of stuff.
04:05.43
lisabjoy
know
04:07.45
Elizabeth Sharrett
um You were dealing with your dental stuff that you had had going on.
04:10.25
lisabjoy
Yes.
04:11.08
Elizabeth Sharrett
and then there was a lot you'd gotten 22 years is what I had my nose of scalp itching and flaking and then just a lot of brain fog.
04:15.11
lisabjoy
Yes.
04:17.68
Elizabeth Sharrett
So it's kind of like you came in thinking like, I got candida, I got some fungal stuff. We've had little bits of mold in the house that you guys had always remediated or dealt with really well.
04:25.34
lisabjoy
mm-hmm
04:25.100
Elizabeth Sharrett
And those were kind of. the the thoughts going in. and But you're right, the fatigue I was looking through, like, walking to your wood shop with something that you felt like going from the house to there was like so fatiguing or grocery shopping with the kids would kind of like knock you out for the rest of the day.
04:29.82
lisabjoy
mm-hmm
04:37.54
lisabjoy
Yes.
04:41.22
Elizabeth Sharrett
And those things are like.
04:41.91
lisabjoy
yes
04:42.92
Elizabeth Sharrett
You- work in your wood shop for hobby. So there's your fun thing. And then.
04:46.50
lisabjoy
Right.
04:47.12
Elizabeth Sharrett
Normal life stuff was just really... kind of be in a pain in the butt. so um Did you ever think about like... What were your thoughts about, like, why you felt so bad at that time? Do you recall at all?
04:59.03
Elizabeth Sharrett
Like what was your...
04:59.13
lisabjoy
Sure. I mean... Honestly, I probably thought, like, this is just how all moms feel.
05:05.60
Elizabeth Sharrett
Mm-hmm.
05:05.53
lisabjoy
like We have such a huge mental load of what are we feeding our kids? Are they eating enough? um Not to mention caring for ourselves that I literally just thought I get home from the grocery store and just sit in the van for like 15, 20 minutes. And I thought that was just normal to just like, I need a minute. um So I definitely.
05:27.81
lisabjoy
And honestly, I went to the wood shop last night and I walked back and I think of that almost every time that this was one of those pivotal moments of like, this isn't normal. Like me walking, literally I'm looking at it 20 yards.
05:43.62
lisabjoy
And being fatigued is not normal.
05:45.80
Elizabeth Sharrett
Yeah.
05:45.82
lisabjoy
um So I definitely remember that.
05:48.17
Elizabeth Sharrett
What about your memory and mental clarity? I remember you describing like going to one drawer and opening another and like some stuff going on in that department for you too, which sounded like mold at the get-go, honestly.
05:57.63
lisabjoy
Yeah. Um, That... Honestly, that was one of the like, this is very concerning to me.
06:05.69
Elizabeth Sharrett
Hmm.
06:05.35
lisabjoy
Like I am like in my late 30s and this should not be happening. um So that. Definitely. Sent me to seek you out because I was like.
06:17.83
lisabjoy
Something's got to be done. There's something off here.
06:21.05
Elizabeth Sharrett
Yeah. Yeah. Did you think at the time? that The things that you were doing to work on improving your health and like in the name of wellness were actually keeping you. from being present in your own life?
06:33.18
lisabjoy
um I had zero clue.
06:35.48
Elizabeth Sharrett
Yeah.
06:35.14
lisabjoy
I don't think I had any clue at all.
06:35.85
Elizabeth Sharrett
Okay.
06:38.06
lisabjoy
Because when you... Go down a path. ah Whether it's a practitioner or a diet or, you know, you think, oh, yeah, this is for my benefit. And you trust that practitioner.
06:49.02
lisabjoy
And it's not that they have ill intentions. It's just.
06:51.86
Elizabeth Sharrett
Of course not. Yeah.
06:52.79
lisabjoy
what they know.
06:53.94
Elizabeth Sharrett
Mhm.
06:54.04
lisabjoy
um And so again, I thought that was the one way to health. So I think that's also something you helped me see is that there are multiple ways to view health and multiple ways.
07:06.76
lisabjoy
Um... to practice that in your life, that. contribute to overall health.
07:12.94
Elizabeth Sharrett
Yeah. And there, there's also no one be all end all like what we do here is really great, but there are plenty of departments of health that I'm like. I'm not touching that because that is not our skill set. And that's the same, I think, across the board for even just wellness habits.
07:25.92
Elizabeth Sharrett
Like red light can be really good for this person's pain, but it may not work for this person's pain or, you know, whatever it may be.
07:30.99
lisabjoy
Yeah.
07:32.00
Elizabeth Sharrett
And getting pigeonholed in that thinking is so easy to do.
07:32.23
lisabjoy
Sure.
07:35.33
Elizabeth Sharrett
through marketing and also just working with people and the way information is presented but um Yeah, I see that. I do think something that we don't talk about enough is what chronic illness does to our emotional capacity. And I don't know that you would have said like, oh, I'm dealing with chronic illness when we came in. It was just kind of like, these are kind of looming concerns for me.
07:53.54
Elizabeth Sharrett
um We do talk a lot about fatigue and gut issues and inflammation, but what we don't talk ah nearly enough about, I think, is like having the capacity to homeschool all day or struggling to think clearly or.
07:56.87
lisabjoy
Amen.
08:05.16
Elizabeth Sharrett
like mom who's snapping at her kids or comparing herself to every other mother.
08:08.42
lisabjoy
Mm-hmm.
08:09.39
Elizabeth Sharrett
Cause the internet's rough, but like that. comparison to capability sort of thing that goes on. um
08:15.44
lisabjoy
Yes.
08:16.23
Elizabeth Sharrett
I was looking back through notes too and just kind of like you were doing a lot of good things. Like you've done counseling and therapy from time to time, but one of the things you mentioned was just like anxiety. And like mom anger, we all have, but those things were popping out.
08:27.07
lisabjoy
See you, guys. Okay.
08:28.68
Elizabeth Sharrett
um And then just... Yeah, the comparison to like physically and mentally how others were doing versus. how you were doing. Thinking back on that.
08:37.25
lisabjoy
Yeah.
08:38.95
Elizabeth Sharrett
like What did that... maybe look like in your home or in your day-to-day life how those things affect you then
08:46.06
lisabjoy
Um. Eh. When you homeschool your children, it... I mean, I'll still say it's not easy. Um, And.
08:55.38
Elizabeth Sharrett
Yeah.
08:57.88
lisabjoy
So being able to interact with them. And know that like. Whether I'm getting. short-tempered or angry at them, like knowing how that can impact.
09:10.90
lisabjoy
our relationship in the long run was really difficult to handle mentally.
09:14.69
Elizabeth Sharrett
Hmm.
09:15.57
lisabjoy
um You know, and my husband would be like, Hey, do you need to take a break? Hey, do you need to go on a walk? Do you need to get outside to have some space so that you don't regret this later?
09:26.55
Elizabeth Sharrett
Mhm.
09:26.76
lisabjoy
um So, I mean, looking back, I mean, and I won't say I'm 100 % like cured and I never have a moment like that.
09:32.77
Elizabeth Sharrett
Yeah, we all have those moments.
09:34.35
lisabjoy
Yeah, for sure.
09:34.66
Elizabeth Sharrett
Yeah
09:36.13
lisabjoy
but um um It was definitely at a point, again, you kind of have those defining moments of like. okay, this is not okay anymore.
09:45.77
Elizabeth Sharrett
Hmm.
09:45.86
lisabjoy
Um, So I definitely have had those moments as well. of that mental fatigue and overwhelm. you know, as a parent
09:54.12
Elizabeth Sharrett
yeah yeah how much of your mental space was taken up at that time kind of like wondering what was wrong with you or what was going on or like. Was there, was that something that crossed your mind? Like what?
10:05.07
Elizabeth Sharrett
you know, potential diagnosis or exposure. you know thing affecting your health and mood stuff at that point.
10:13.09
lisabjoy
i Honestly, don't think I knew that you know a physiological component could be contributing to my mental health.
10:20.02
Elizabeth Sharrett
Hmm.
10:24.07
Elizabeth Sharrett
Yeah.
10:24.31
lisabjoy
ah Or, you know, how I was able to cope with things. um So I think. add you either I don't know whether it was strep or Lyme, you know, that could have been contributing to those kind of ragey feelings. I think strep. um It was almost a little bit of like, oh, this isn't all my fault.
10:41.79
lisabjoy
Like this is, you know, there's something else that's contributing to it, not just.
10:42.58
Elizabeth Sharrett
and who Yeah.
10:47.13
lisabjoy
things I've dealt with in my past or things that I need to work on in counseling. Like there is a literal. Physical. component to it as well. So that kind of is a little bit of relief.
10:56.94
Elizabeth Sharrett
Yeah. So bringing that up, I was looking back through testing stuff and Lyme was definitely a part of the puzzle, but so was Babesia, a common bug-borne infection, and then several viral things, like a lot of viral stuff that were just around when we were around kids, like Coxsackie, typical.
11:10.81
lisabjoy
Mm-hmm.
11:11.87
Elizabeth Sharrett
behind um hand, foot, mouth and parvovirus. Um, Epstein Barr. a little side of toxoplasmos so in there so and plenty of strep stuff going on so definitely and we've looked at you know mold stuff over the years because we know that there's been mold exposures and and But you also came to me with like a lot of info because you'd been down, you know, a path of trying to figure stuff out.
11:19.45
lisabjoy
Amen.
11:27.30
lisabjoy
evening
11:34.44
Elizabeth Sharrett
And then, you know, I kind of raised the like. the question of why do we detox so much every single day? Because the enemas were like so pivotal to your life. And I remember asking you the first time. If I was to say, we're not going to do this anymore, what how would that change your day-to-day? And you were like...
11:49.31
Elizabeth Sharrett
Uh, no. Like we can't not do this every single day.
11:51.25
lisabjoy
Yeah. Yeah.
11:52.54
Elizabeth Sharrett
I'm like, okay, well, if we have an ongoing tox problem internally, it can be more than just mold exposure. It can be Lyme, which is a new idea for a lot of people because we don't, we tend to read a ton about mold and mold exposure and the internet's really great at scaring us with that.
12:01.33
lisabjoy
Mm hmm.
12:06.63
Elizabeth Sharrett
But the bug-borne part of things. It's not something we think about. um And it creates so much um physical anxiety in our body, like irritation to our nervous system, which which shows up as that like overwhelm.
12:10.39
lisabjoy
Mm hmm.
12:19.18
Elizabeth Sharrett
and um basically like physicality of anxiety, if you will. And I think that was one of the big things kind of like.
12:24.63
lisabjoy
and
12:26.81
Elizabeth Sharrett
listening to you as you went through the process was like you noting your emotional capacity kind of improving. Do you feel like Mike or the kids noticed that like as you went along too?
12:50.34
Elizabeth Sharrett
Hmm.
13:03.08
Elizabeth Sharrett
Hmm.
13:14.83
Elizabeth Sharrett
the
13:21.86
Elizabeth Sharrett
Mm hmm.
13:27.39
Elizabeth Sharrett
Mm hmm.
13:30.48
Elizabeth Sharrett
But really, it was kind of smart. Like you'd found a way to solve your own problem. Like there was an internal toxicity going on. And, you know, doing the enemas regularly was pushing your liver and helping to clear out that toxicity so it wasn't reabsorbed. And you're a tiny lady. So like reabsorption is going to happen quick and, you know, go pretty far in the body.
13:48.12
Elizabeth Sharrett
um But you were to you were missing the benefits of the colon where it ferments our stool and turns those into B vitamins, which helps with our mental health too. So there were definitely layers. I'm kind of curious about what I told you in the beginning of like, yeah, I feel like your health anxiety and anxiety in general is like related to Lyme and co-infections because you'd been with other practitioners before.
14:09.27
Elizabeth Sharrett
And I'm kind of curious, just like what made you willing to. try another practitioner when you've done so much but also like trust Me saying like, hey, this is totally not.
14:19.83
Elizabeth Sharrett
what we think it is. And we're going to stop doing these things to manage and get better for real.
14:42.07
Elizabeth Sharrett
Hmm.
14:51.62
Elizabeth Sharrett
Mm.
15:05.76
Elizabeth Sharrett
Hmm.
15:27.43
Elizabeth Sharrett
o
15:36.43
Elizabeth Sharrett
Yeah. um How did it feel when we started to kind of identify? possible explanations for your symptoms that you'd been chasing for years. Because around the time that I was like, okay, no more.
15:47.77
Elizabeth Sharrett
Coffee in a Ming. Let's move in that direction. Let's look at testing. um Do you remember like seeing testing results and me kind of going through them and how that felt? in connection to symptom load you'd been experiencing.
16:08.06
Elizabeth Sharrett
Mm hmm.
16:13.80
Elizabeth Sharrett
Hmm.
16:19.65
Elizabeth Sharrett
Yeah.
16:29.77
Elizabeth Sharrett
Mm-hmm.
16:47.39
Elizabeth Sharrett
Mm-hmm.
16:59.35
Elizabeth Sharrett
Yeah, it is interesting too. And we're in the anxiety piece, especially about health and we're doing stuff about it. It starts to become less and less like this exterior anxiety and becomes more and more just like our daily normal. Like I'm just doing. what I usually do to take care of my body, which was totally true, but it had, I just remember talking to you the first couple of times and I was like. I don't think she really sees it yet like she's in it so much that like the way it was consuming
17:27.29
Elizabeth Sharrett
the fearfulness, which that is also like a tint of lime and then also mold. There becomes this thing that our body does in a self protective manner. And like an inner knowing. But there's something going on, and we become very, like, concerned over and very kind of diligent in working at our health. And some people become, like, obsessed with worst-case scenario health stuff, things like that. That wasn't entirely where you were.
17:49.91
Elizabeth Sharrett
Um... But you mentioned like it taking a while to kind of see like improvements. Do you remember what were some of the first improvements that made you realize like, think I like really changing in this process.
18:12.17
Elizabeth Sharrett
Yeah. Hello.
18:36.34
Elizabeth Sharrett
okay
18:48.85
Elizabeth Sharrett
Yeah. yeah getting really from something that you've dealt with or managed for so long is really like... mind-blowing really and it was one of those things too i think you kind of got some mental freedom from because It had been put in the category of, like, this is candida.
19:06.22
Elizabeth Sharrett
And mot in part of our lab work was we looked at in the most accurate way that we can like how much candy does here and there really wasn't whole time But Lyme and blood-borne infections can create rashing and itching and those type of things. And they can it can hang in certain areas or it can move.
19:22.62
Elizabeth Sharrett
And there's been some of the stuff for you over the years that wasn't a non-issue. But it was not the main issue. And I think for people who've, like... become how familiar, especially if I'm doing the old stuff, to be able to get clarity where I'm like,
19:35.61
Elizabeth Sharrett
What are you actually doing, Meg? Because it can do this vicious cycle of like, well, I'm just gonna have to eat it forever. It's just terrible. But the part of it's the immune system has something else. But it's working on that it's not managing those normal levels. And also Lyme and fungal symptoms are fairly similar. similar so You mentioned in like a care review at some point.
19:54.69
Elizabeth Sharrett
that you really appreciated that we didn't throw everything at you at once. Why was that really important?
20:54.54
Elizabeth Sharrett
a
20:57.29
Elizabeth Sharrett
oh Yeah, yeah. Well, one, I come to it from that space, obviously. I am a mom, and I was sick when I had little children. But I appreciate you saying that, because sometimes, too, when we move people into care, they're like, why do we have to go into care for... a couple of months.
21:12.90
Elizabeth Sharrett
Because the support and the actual care, like it's called care for a reason. The care portion of it is what gets people through to the other side. It's also what helps us to support people so that, like, if we're going too fast or too slow or you want to learn more or you want to learn less,
21:27.63
Elizabeth Sharrett
and then we're like there to support as things come up, and that part For us, it's how people stick to it get better stay better because we've been able to care during a period of time, just like you mentioned going to the doctor.
21:40.52
Elizabeth Sharrett
Mike. The doctor that mentioned the enema thing. Good on her for mentioning it. I honestly wouldn't expect her to have time to do anything more than mention, because that... Mono is not set up for that.
21:51.59
Elizabeth Sharrett
um but we get the privilege of being able to educate and really like support more so Um... Yeah, and as a mom, like... There's stuff that comes up all the time during camp where you literally have to be like I'll get to that next week because I can't this week. But, like, let's regroup on something else. so I don't have to say that, but...
22:10.19
Elizabeth Sharrett
turning point you kind of mentioned like things for trucking the along good and i think for me looking back was like, you guys went to Disney. And there was a Disney trip in there and we were kind of like, how's it going to go? Because you're still working through the immune balancing process. and You've always been really gracious to kind of like look back on your life and share things with me in terms of progress.
22:29.22
Elizabeth Sharrett
um but you wrote in there like you didn't just survive your Disney trip, you actually enjoyed it. So tell me about, if you recall, I know you guys have probably gone to Disney a little bit since then, but... What were you worried about before him that was different when you went?
22:42.72
Elizabeth Sharrett
Or after. Recovery. There's a whole thing.
23:13.31
Elizabeth Sharrett
river
23:26.20
Elizabeth Sharrett
Yeah, yeah, and you were still working through your process, and I think that's one of the things people always get really worried about is, like, When is the right time to start this? And it's fall, so usually I'm talking about like, now's the right time to start something if you want to feel good by Christmas. Even though I used to be working through things,
23:41.51
Elizabeth Sharrett
your life is going to be dramatically different in a month or two months. Like it really does shift stuff pretty quickly. And though there may not, like you said, be these huge, measurable waves, like your scalp wasn't better, tell more towards the end.
23:54.33
Elizabeth Sharrett
or the anxiety hadn't really become profoundly different until the end. There are big changes in capacity. and energy that come along the way. and it's not just knock down drag out you know, exhaustion. There'll be days like that maybe, but...
24:08.56
Elizabeth Sharrett
I dunno. I just love how you managed Disney because everybody knows what kind of a hustle that is. And you said, too, like, I just can't believe how much fun that was. Which makes me so happy because I know it's like to go to Disney as a very tired mom who's sick. I did that one time with two little boys. And then as a mom who had energy and can like keep going. And that is...
24:26.71
Elizabeth Sharrett
super meaningful, but Um...
25:01.72
Elizabeth Sharrett
Yeah.
25:04.70
Elizabeth Sharrett
Which I think is super cool because your brain fog stuff was, like, such a big thing in the beginning. And it definitely wasn't, like, all the way transformed at that point, but... it was much different than when it started.
25:16.71
Elizabeth Sharrett
You hit some new messages that I think captures kind of the entire journey better than any I'm sorry. you know after things could this summer Um, and you're looking through pictures and realize that What are you... You guys were doing summer vacation on like the exact same day.
25:31.75
Elizabeth Sharrett
um And we started our work in 2024. So the first thing was from 2024 in July. You guys were at Pikes Peak. What was that? experience like for you at that point.
25:58.33
Elizabeth Sharrett
Yeah.
26:34.19
Elizabeth Sharrett
Yeah, no, you can jump for it. I think, you know, the big things there being it was like a big stressor on your body, like the elevation, the trip. It was at a point where you were still dealing with the infections in it.
26:45.13
Elizabeth Sharrett
your immune system lower than we saw, right? the fever p7 you know as an adult dealing with a bacterial infection in the body in the back pain I hated it for you and also It did provide quite a contrast to the listener I heard from you.
26:59.71
Elizabeth Sharrett
Um, sorry, vacation. Tell me about that.
27:13.41
Elizabeth Sharrett
even
28:13.38
Elizabeth Sharrett
anything
28:22.77
Elizabeth Sharrett
Yeah. I think one of the differences, too, just so you might be able to notice, like, the dizziness piece. Like, at Pikes Peak, I felt so dizzy and, like, out of it and woozy. And then, you know, this summer, like, not having any of that. And that is one of those sneaky line things.
28:37.13
Elizabeth Sharrett
It can be there with other infections, but it's pretty common with Lyme. But we do have like a dizziness and a woozy feeling. And some people have full-blown vertigo that's ongoing that improves after. um that was definitely part of my story i had just like vertical at the onset of Lyme, severely for a week, and then you know, that ongoing busy thing, which can be so discombobulating when you're the you're the mom who's handling the birthday,
29:02.49
Elizabeth Sharrett
And then, like, just on top of it, it feels like crap. Like, nobody wants to feel like that. And so when you mentioned, you know, I didn't feel the busy, like, faint icky feels for me, that was a... I don't know, a visceral win for me because I know how.
29:15.02
Elizabeth Sharrett
just discombobulating and like that scary i gotta go back to the hotel on vacation feeling
29:32.66
Elizabeth Sharrett
Yeah. What's it like going places? Are you kind of... experiencing some level of of freedom of not immediately calculating how badly it might affect you.
30:07.80
Elizabeth Sharrett
Mm hmm.
30:11.58
Elizabeth Sharrett
Mm-hmm.
30:20.91
Elizabeth Sharrett
yeah I think, too, I've seen you gain a lot of trust in your body and that's really part of the process because we learn what's going on. with You feel it and see it move on and move out.
30:31.67
Elizabeth Sharrett
Then at some point you're sick after and you're like. that wasn't the same as how it used to be like my immune system helped me instead of like harming me And that part of it is really super valuable too.
30:46.44
Elizabeth Sharrett
back
30:50.30
Elizabeth Sharrett
No worries, he'll cut that out. I saw it and it dropped off. Um, let's see.
30:57.72
Elizabeth Sharrett
So one of the things I love most about your story is that this didn't just change your life, it changed what your children experienced at home, like the way you mothered, but we also got to work on kiddos before.
31:08.56
Elizabeth Sharrett
um Or after, I guess, after the care process. Once out. We worked on your daughter first. Could you kind of tell me like what her experience was when we decided, like, wait we need to... We look into this, get some things better for her, what was going on.
31:41.95
Elizabeth Sharrett
and
32:28.85
Elizabeth Sharrett
slide
32:49.11
Elizabeth Sharrett
I was having joint pain stuff too. I think it was just me kind of creeping a little bit.
33:01.43
Elizabeth Sharrett
I don't want it to end with this
33:19.69
Elizabeth Sharrett
Thanks.
33:31.76
Elizabeth Sharrett
flip
33:45.97
Elizabeth Sharrett
We had done line testing for you. pretty far through once we started working for her. Um... What did you think when I kind of suggested like, hey, her...
33:56.77
Elizabeth Sharrett
Bedwetting ends. Daytime, wedding. and then joint pain which was knee pain and it's so easy to just say like oh just growing pains But so often Lyme is like...
34:07.41
Elizabeth Sharrett
is there creating these really heavy growing things or they're, you know, located in one area. But what were your thoughts when I was like, why don't we look at this for her too? Because again, she had a tick bite. But it can have to live between mom and baby when baby is inside of mom. um you know So there can be congenital.
34:25.44
Elizabeth Sharrett
passing mirror she can have had her own infection but what were your kind of thoughts when i said like hey let's work on solving those things with this pathway that we just took for you and your fatigue
34:55.68
Elizabeth Sharrett
Thank you.
35:09.20
Elizabeth Sharrett
me
35:14.78
Elizabeth Sharrett
And they ate my soup. they were on the younger elementary side of things and so immune development is still happening pretty strongly there where their body's learning like what's them and what's other stuff So that is really the crux of this, is that when the body's not fully learned, that a pathogen is not themselves the immune system isn't appropriately responding. And once we teach the immune system, hey,
35:34.88
Elizabeth Sharrett
They'll get that strep bacteria, they'll get that Lyme, whatever it may be. we build long-term immune resilience and that is what builds the ongoing health care clients, where they get better, stay better. Um... But working through stuff for her, what changes did you notice us in her, like, energy or sleep or... comfort or confidence. or anything after we were done.
36:00.32
Elizabeth Sharrett
Yeah.
36:12.39
Elizabeth Sharrett
and
36:40.59
Elizabeth Sharrett
is
37:10.82
Elizabeth Sharrett
yes What's the point about... kind of the shame that we can sometimes take on about our own physical illness or, you know, chronic symptoms. and i think and talk a lot about how i feel like the covet era made that worse because there was this thing that like suggested that if we just avoid the viral illness going around then you'll be okay
37:29.89
Elizabeth Sharrett
And if you if you get sick, everything everything's going bad. and if you're able to not be sick with the virus then everything's going to go okay and that way of thinking completely like just throws out the window this wonderful beautiful immune system that we have And that we know information about how it works and how it can and should work. And then all this information we have to about pathogens and how they work and function and influence symptoms in the body. And I just love any time our clients can get a little more free from that idea that, like, this physical thing I have some great influence over. Because sometimes we just don't. Like bodies get sick, bodies get confused, bodies go through grief, stressors, all these sort of things that impact.
38:09.87
Elizabeth Sharrett
what our body is able to deal with immune-wise or not, and then we see symptoms from that. It's not something that... we can always do our way out of. But Wellness World capitalizes on that.
38:20.57
Elizabeth Sharrett
too often i think there are lots of wonderful tools to learn about It's so easy to just think that. Oh, if I just read like Hunter in a memoir or take better supplements or... do this better routine at bedtime then everything should be better but it's just not that simple, like, there's physiological function at play, so.
38:38.70
Elizabeth Sharrett
How do you think like going through this process has changed the way you approach your kids' health? um or your own like has it impacted fear like reactivity or those kind of feels when something comes up health-wise
39:06.04
Elizabeth Sharrett
this
39:10.46
Elizabeth Sharrett
inqui
39:20.02
Elizabeth Sharrett
Yeah.
39:41.15
Elizabeth Sharrett
man
39:58.35
Elizabeth Sharrett
yeah So what I hear is like basically a big freedom to stop doing so much and like trusting that our bodies have a system that handles things and knowing, you know, previously the system wasn't working great because there had been an issue there. We resolved it now.
40:12.09
Elizabeth Sharrett
Things are different. So I'm going to kind of walk through a couple of rapid fire questions for you on your like before, after. Um... Are you still doing Daily Coffee Animus? What does your supplement wellness routine look like now compared to before?
40:37.37
Elizabeth Sharrett
So normal perimenopause kind of stuff. How has your relationship with food changed?
41:05.02
Elizabeth Sharrett
When a symptom pops up today, do you react differently?
41:23.88
Elizabeth Sharrett
Yeah.
41:30.93
Elizabeth Sharrett
i think in some ways it can be good and in a caregiving role too like i want to fix whatever's going on my boys immediately like i don't want anybody to have to feel crappy for any period of time and So.
41:42.60
Elizabeth Sharrett
there's that but i think too just thinking through the tools that you employed before versus tools that you maybe reach for now. I think those things may be different. oh Do you feel like you listen to your body now or spend more time being afraid of it?
42:07.98
Elizabeth Sharrett
a That is so funny. and really nice. and One of my favorite things about Your story is like that you're not dependent on us or me anymore. You're not messaging me constantly. You're like...
42:23.48
Elizabeth Sharrett
I mean, it's rarely. It's a kid thing or something. And you're not living on an endless protocol either, because you, I mean, even me being, when I said, I'm gonna pull some of these things out, you were like, but why? because that's how your lifeline's like you're out living your life and that's exactly what we want the people you know that we work with to be able to get to do so From this place where you are now, if you could go back and tell Elisa two or three years ago. You know, what would you tell her about what's coming for her?
42:59.39
Elizabeth Sharrett
me
43:06.39
Elizabeth Sharrett
yes
43:16.14
Elizabeth Sharrett
on
43:22.37
Elizabeth Sharrett
yeah I think I hear a lot of like, you know that you can influence your health, but you know that you don't have to. to control it. Like, we can make good choices, and that is... That's the end of the obligation. Do you think your children have gotten a different version of their mom back?
43:40.58
Elizabeth Sharrett
Yeah. I think that's cool and one of my favorite parts like one of our Poor her. values, it's just that we... you know using tools for a season for a reason and the goal is to always turn people back into the role that they were designed.
43:55.78
Elizabeth Sharrett
to be doing. not the wellness doer or the medicine taker or the whatever but like the mom or the kid who goes to school and learns or the dad who goes to work and can stay awake and pay attention all day Because those things sound silly, but, like...
44:08.42
Elizabeth Sharrett
There's a whole lot of people living with versions of that that are not, you know. They're not getting as close to the wall. I've heard a ton. Spam. I appreciate your time today kind of sharing with us all the things. And I really hope our visitors and our listeners hear in your story that the goal isn't become like the best supplement and taker or detoxer.
44:28.42
Elizabeth Sharrett
The goal is for us to spend our normal moments living our normal life and then, you know, sometimes optimizing when we need to. Um... And to get to take our kids to Disney and have fun and play in a river and eat dinner without fear and have, like, that emotional capacity.
44:44.33
Elizabeth Sharrett
to respond to our kids with patience because that Is there for us? And sometimes our physiology gets in the way, but health failures should be giving us more life. and not be this thing that like consumes our days. I appreciate you sharing so much.
45:02.92
Elizabeth Sharrett
Oh, you know what? I have one question. I almost forgot it. The question I ask every visitor is really to kind of help those who either I feel like I'm not living in chronic illness or Not familiar with it too.
45:15.78
Elizabeth Sharrett
care better for others. So what was one thing during your... process their paths in and through chronic illness stuff, whether it's you, your kids. the husband What's one thing that someone did to love you all about?
45:32.29
Elizabeth Sharrett
Okay. Mm-hmm.
45:43.14
Elizabeth Sharrett
Yes.
45:53.11
Elizabeth Sharrett
That's a good one. That's a really good one. And we all need more of that. We all need to. See you guys in the morning. know silo a little less so Thanks for hearing that and thanks for sharing your story with us.
