Understanding the Tools: Medicine, Supplements, Herbs, Homeopathy

Detoxification and Drainage

Origin: Modern conventional system, symptom-focused, powerful in emergencies.

Example: Liver and kidney supportive herbs, homeopathic drainage remedies and toxin drainers, methyl nutrients, antioxidants, teas, minerals, clay and charcoal binders, sauna, lymphatic drainage massage, vibration plate, dry brushing, gum sha…

When: Each chronic case has a detoxification and drainage component: i.e. the body needs help taking out the trash! Some more severe than others and the environment toxin burden is always assessed in creating this bioindivideal portion of the protocol in a sustainable fashion.

How: Each case is assessed, drainage added from the start - both supplements and habits - that fits your lifestyle and reaches our goals! (No wild biohacking routines)

Medicine / prescriptions

Origin: Modern conventional system, symptom-focused, powerful in emergencies.

Example: Antibiotics, asthma inhalers, PPI’s, beta blockers, biologics, infusions…

When: Acute crises, infections needing fast action, certain severe conditions.

How:  We work with your medications, noting nutrient lack and symptoms they deplete and make recommendations for places to have conversations with your doctor for better fits to your needs. We educate you around the medication and its function in your health. We never remove or alter your medications!

Supplements

Origin: Nutritional science β€” supporting or replacing what’s deficient - these are nutrients, digestive secretions, hormones or components of food that you would get in your typical diet.

Example: Magnesium, Fatty Acids in Fish Oils, B12, Zinc, Digestive Enzymes, Vitamin A, Topical Progesterone, Methylfolate, pre- pro- and post-biotics

When: To repleted depleted nutrients, support digestive or biochemical processes, we need supplements.  A nutritionally depleted food system and supply as well as increased toxin load lead to greater depletions than in years past.

How: Used only for a season and for a reason - we want to nourish the body’s deficiencies so all systems work optimally, not stay on supplements forever.

Herbs

Origin: Ancient systems (Ayurveda, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Western herbalism).

Example: Milk Thistle, Ashwagandha, Reishii Mushroom, Japanese Knotweed

When: Strengthen or modulate body systems - namely immune and hormonal, gently over time.

How: Herbs are most often dried and taken in capsule, teas and herbal infusions as well as tinctures are liquid options. Some herb’s oils are beneficial, too.

Homeopathy

Origin: Developed in 1700s by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann (Germany), widely used in America until the 1920’s, making a resurgence in the Us in the 1970’s.  Globally, homeopathy is the second posted used system medicine.

Based on β€œlike cures like”; energetic resonance rather than material dose. One would take Allium Cepa for allergies, derived from red onions, which also makes the eyes water and nose run.

Example: Arnica for bruising, Apis for swelling, Oscillococcinum for flu symptoms.

When: Offers subtle but powerful shifts in emotional, mental, physical healing, great for sensitive individuals, everyday use and complex cases.
