Sweet Calvin celebrated his second birthday with family and friends and a tall rice krispies birthday cake. Enjoy a good belly laugh!
You're growing by leaps and bounds and you're just so fun. The mullet is in full force and I keep willing it to curl around your ears, though I'm not sure it'll work before it's time for a trim. I love how hard you work at your new tasks - walking, drinking from cups, drinking smoothies. You accept your brother's apologies and intense 'loves' and hugs with grace. You can go from yelling (maybe a bit dramatically?) about a hurt he's inflicted to nuzzling your fluffy head into Truman's neck while he promises, again, not to push you over or whack you with a lego. Thankful for your example to be quickest to forgive - we need more of your silly puddy heart in the world. And we need more of your joy-bubble nature, too. Love you so, sweet Calvin. You are such a little light in our home.
Sweet, little guys: you keep me so busy! I've been trying to make more pictures, but it's often tricky as we're so busy just being. We visited the zoo with our friends Andrea and Henley and they treated us to a train ride which you, Truman, mentioned as your Wow! prayer for the day. Such a gift to see your wonder. Little Cal just loved that it moved, we were with smiling friends and he got a chill stroller ride.
Another night, we headed over to hang with Josh and Hay Hay at the Wright Elementary playground and go for a little golf cart ride. Super fun. Lots of imaginative fireman games which led us to visit the Bagdad Fire Department with them later in the week. Truman, you were totally in awe of getting to see the firetrucks and try on the fire gear and you talked about it for dayysss. So sweet to see you move from trains into firetrucks - but most sweet is to see you bravely trying new things and growing in kindness. Love you both.
Woke up the little, smiling babes yesterday and headed to the state fair with their Nana. We got to have giggles in the morning, a car ride of songs, watched the mule show, pretended to be bees, had a milk moment and even got pulled over by the state police...for a photo. Was a sweet day of so many big joys through little, popcorn-eating eyes. You two continue to be the biggest blessing to my soul.
...Because life with these two is too sweet, pictures are a joy to my heart and they do no one any good on a harddrive all in the name of waiting until I'm caught up and getting to things chronologically. Truman started back to preschool this week and had a great first day. He and Cal even (crazily) obliged Momma for a couple extra pictures. So big and fun, that little Truman is. Prepare yourself for a peppering of various stages of past life and current happenings.
Last supper with the Earleys for a bit before they moved to Alabama....Florida. Thankful for sweet friends to raise wild boys alongside.
Soaking up the last bits of summer on the farm.
And being super tired from all the activites.
And insanely adorable...
Walks with the grandparents after dinnertime. LOTS of giggles, pretend firefighting and tadpoles in the creek. Good stuff.
First time Cal said 'stick'.
